Episode 14: Tanner Jago, Brendan Lafferty

In our second-to-last episode, we spoke with Brandon native and Fargo Force defenceman Tanner Jago on his recent college hockey Division-1 commitment. Also, we talked with Winnipeg Goldeyes left-hander Brendan Lafferty as he looks for another great season with the team following a record-setting first year.

Episode 13 – Rob Henderson, Brittany Habing

In this week’s episode, we talked spoke to the Brandon Sun’s Rob Henderson about the final stretch of the regular season for the Brandon Wheat Kings and the possible return of the WHL to Winnipeg.

Also, we spoke to Brittany Habing of the Manitoba Bisons women’s volleyball team one day after the Bisons won the CIS national championship in a 3-0 victory over the UBC Thunderbirds.

Episode 12: Rachel Cockrell, Ryan Smith

Manitoba Bisons women’s volleyball player Rachel Cockrell joined us to start off the episode. The Bisons are headed to the CIS national championships this weekend in Regina, with their first game being the quarterfinals against Ottawa. Then, we were joined by the Head Coach and General Manager of the Selkirk Steelers Ryan Smith, whose team went worst-to-first in the Addison Division this year and look to continue rolling into the upcoming MJHL playoffs.

Episode 11: Lee Carter, Mike Sirant

We spoke with two university coaches who are gearing up for very important parts of their seasons. First, we talked with Brandon Bobcats women’s volleyball head coach Lee Carter before his team’s practice ahead of their first round playoff series against UBCO this weekend. Then, we talked with Manitoba Bisons men’s hockey head coach Mike Sirant as he prepares his team for the final weekend of the regular season with plenty of playoff implications on the line.

Episode 10 – Rob Tetrault, Kirk Penton

On the tenth episode of MSR, we talk to Rob Tetrault about the charity ball hockey tournament he’s started in order to raise awareness for CMV. Then, Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun joined us to preview the upcoming CFL free agency period and what it could have in store for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Episode 9 – Steven Wesley, Resby Coutts

This week, Winnipeg Wesmen fifth forward Steven Wesley, one of the leading men’s basketball scorers in the Canada West conference, joined us to talk about his team and how they are preparing for their final regular season stretch. Also, Resby Coutts came back, this time to preview the upcoming Safeway Men’s Curling Championships this weekend in Winnipeg.

Episode 8 – Richard Pollock, Kayleigh Dobie

This week, Richard Pollock from the Illegal Curve joined us to talk about the start of Paul Maurice’s tenure as the head coach of the Winnipeg Jets. We also spoke with Manitoba Bisons women’s volleyball libero Kayleigh Dobie about her team’s hot start since coming back from the holiday break.

Episode 7 – Ken Schneider, Jim Bender

On this week’s episode, we talked with Ken Schneider, the head coach of the Brandon Midget AAA Wheat Kings, who currently sit in first place in the Manitoba Midget AAA League with 10 games remaining.

Also joining us was Jim Bender of the Winnipeg Sun. We discussed the aftermath of the Scotties provincial curling tournament in Virden, the chances Chelsea Carey’s rink has at the national tournament, a much more curling talk.

Episode 6 – Braden Calvert, Resby Coutts

Curling night in the Red River Radio studios! First, we spoke with Carberry’s Braden Calvert following his win at the Manitoba Men’s Junior Curling Provincials as he prepares for the national championships coming up later this month in Nova Scotia.

Then, longtime curling personality Resby Coutts provided his colorful insights into the upcoming Scotties in Virden, his career, and which current NHL insider used to be a pretty good curler.
